Jo & John

Jo & John, were a pleasure to work with. Jo was so excited on her wedding day and even her cats were included in the getting ready part. Jo's veil was also a lot of fun for everyone. Here is her story and how she enjoyed her day:

John and I met online.  Our first date we went to a Thai restaurant.  Our second date I had him come to this really terrible play I was in. I played a bitchy wife if the mayor.  He had to sit with my brother and my best friend and afterwards I made him help strike the set. Now we are happily married. Go figure....
Our wedding was fabulous.  So many people told us it was the best wedding they had ever been to. And with our crowd that is a lot of weddings. In part it was due to being a bit older. We are 62 rather than 20 something. I think we were just more relaxed about it all. In part it was because our two famlies just clicked.  It is a grand time when everyone at the party really likes each other.
Our amazing venue also contributed to our day's wonder. The Saltwater Grille in South Portland was perfect. The staff treated us like royalty, the food was great and the setting overlooking Portland harbor and skyline could not have been more spectacular.
Our flowers were very special. We used a local growers Snell Farms. All our flowers were locally grown. The flower designer Carolyn Snell was very attentive and listened carefully to my wishes. I am an artist so it was very important that the flowers were unique and particular. Carolyn exceeded my expectations.
Laura Kozlowski did an amazing job documenting our day. I was very paticular that I did not want any traditional formal wedding pictures with everyone posed and stiff. Laura captured exactly the tone and the feeling of our day, the joy we felt and the beauty of our surroundings. She lustened to us from the first meeting to the last where we were putting tigether oyr spectacular album. She is a gifted photographer.

Lucas & Emily

Lucas and Emily had one of those picture perfect upstate NY summer days. The wedding was held on a friend's land near Moravia. Their vendors were limited, due to some amazing friends who helped make it all possible. For catering, they had Matt Murphy,  http://murphys-catering.com who really made some delicious and healthy food! Here are their images we enjoyed capturing and below you can read more about how they met and fell in love.

"Lucas and I met in Ithaca in 2001 when we were both ridiculous early 20-somethings who perpetually made ridiculous choices.  For example, we never dated, we just became really good friends. In 2006 we both left Central NY looking for that 'something missing' we were feeling (hint, the answer was each other all along)  Lucas moved to Portland (as our generation is prone to do), I moved to Virginia to go to grad school.   We stayed long distance friends for six more years, until a wanderlust brought us back together,  I wanted to go London and posted to Facebook looking for a travel mate.  Lucas saw my post, agreed that London would be fun, and before we knew it we had committed to going.  We went, having not seen each other in six years, and both knew at our airport reunion that this was more than just a vacation.  We came back from Europe, both moved across country a few times before settling down in Portland to plan a wedding in Upstate NY.
We agreed that more than anything we wanted our wedding to be a time for all of our friends and family to come together and have fun. Since we lived so far away, it was also a reunion with friends we see far too rarely. We wanted it to be full of meaning and heart, but not too much pomp or stale traditions.  And that's exactly how it went.  It was amazing from the days of prep leading up to it, to the last flicker of the bonfire at three am.  We had amazing food, good wine, fire works, dance offs, a camp fire sing along and our very own tent city - where a bunch of our friends camped out like our own mini music festival.  I could never pick a favorite moment because each moment was perfect."
